A survey was carried out about the Humps on Witherley Road, Atherstone following a meeting in July with Mike O’Brien and local residents.
Residents were asked
1. Leave the humps in place
2. Remove the humps
3. Have a safer alternative to the humps
99 replies received from residents from the following roads.
Witherley Road, Mancetter Road, Ivor Road, Watling Street, Marie Close, Convent Lane and Walnut Drive.
The replies received indicated the following preferences to the questions
Question 1.) = 6 Question 2.) = 20 Question 3.) = 62
Two replies said 2 and 3 and the rest gave no preference

Cushions cause damage to cars exhaust and suspension
Can be painful for those with illness and injury travelling to doctors and the hospital
Noise of vehicles banging over the humps
Lack of proper consultation
Humps needed on Mancetter Road
Humps do not meet proper specifications
Traffic swerving across the road and driving down the middle to miss humps
It is now more dangerous than it was before
Not enough policing to stop speeding
Install Speed Cameras
Have flashing speed indicators
Install chicanes
Make the humps go all the way across the road
Lower the humps
Completely remove the humps
Have a random sequence on the lights to slow traffic
Have double white lines to make it illegal to cross the lines
Junction at Mancetter Road should have been an island to slow traffic coming off the A5
Reduce the number of humps
