This website was established while I was a Member of Parliament between 1992 and 2010. The Conservatives squeeked in by 54 votes at the election on 6th May 2010 so I ceased to be the MP.  None the less I have a keen interest in what happens locally and will be updating this website.

Welcome

Welcome to my website where you will be able to access information about Bedworth and North Warwickshire, a brief biography, how to contact me and some useful information and links.

I'm very interested to hear your viewpoints on different local issues. Have a look at the map for events, campaigns in your local area and across the constituency.

I also have a campaigns' page which gives you details about some of the issues I'm concerned with and details of how you can get involved.

Alternatively click on the links on the left in the site contents box.

  • Labour Manifesto
Compare the Manifestos "The Tory and Labour manifestos reveal the different values of the two parties", says Mike O'Brien. “Labour offers a helping hand to families and pensioners to ensure we get better schools, an improved NHS and tackle crime. Labour would deal with the economic issues facing Britain, using the enormous power of government to chart a course out of the global recession. “The Conservative Manifesto tells families they are on their own now. Want better schools? DIY. Want better public services? DIY. No time because you are working? Tough. Indeed the whole manifesto is tough on...
  • Council in Chaos
“Council in Chaos” says MP The Tory Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth has sensationally quit the Conservative Group to become an independent at the start of the election campaign. The decision has left the Council in chaos. Nuneaton was the prize Tory Council David Cameron visited immediately after the Tories won it for the first time in 25 years in May 2008. Now bitter divisions among local Conservatives have been exposed. Councillor Tom Wilson said of leaving the Conservative Group, “It’s like going into hospital and having a successful operation to get rid of something nasty out of your body”....
  • Middleton Meeting

They villagers crammed into the small Parish Hall in Middleton on Saturday to discuss the plans for a High Speed Railway through their area. The proposed route runs close to some of the homes in both villages and also runs through some farm properties. Last Tuesday in Coleshill...
  • High Speed Rail 2 Meeting
Packed meeting on High Speed Rail Hundreds of people packed Coleshill Town Hall on Tuesday night for the first meeting in the country on the proposals for a new High Speed Railway link from London to Birmingham. The meeting was called by Mike O'Brien MP as soon as he heard about the proposals. The route goes through the Coleshill, Water Orton and Gilson area and people are concerned about the impact on local villages. In a vote at the end of the meeting views were divided with 117 opposed to the project, whereas 98 might support it with...
  • Heritage Exhibition at Piccadilly
Heritage Exhibition at PiccadillyHeritage Exhibition at Piccadilly The People of the North Warwickshire Village of Piccadilly were able to re-visit their past at an exhibition in the Community Centre organised by Piccadilly Community Association on Saturday. Mike O'Brien MP joined the organisers of the exhibition of photographs, memorabilia, old newspapers and memories about the Village of Piccadilly and the nearby collieries, long since closed of Kingsbury and Dexter. There were photographs of Piccadilly Colliery Homes in 1910, another of the Post War pre-fabricated homes which dominated the Village until they were demolished in the 1960's and replaced with modern brick homes.
